Sometimes I'm funny, other times I'm annoying. I take pride in both. |
inkdrocket asked: Now that the Youtube layout has been out for while, what do you think about it? I liked your old video of it. They changed few things thankfully too. The most annoying thing I personally have is that theres no longer row for one channel, so it makes harder for channels that post stuff once week to get noticed when you compete against channels that post "4 parts of videos week". Easy to get lost!
I don’t have too many problems with the new design, like so many people seem to have. If I had to change things currently, there are a few main ones I would focus on.
1. I would make it so highlights was gone and the only option was “everything”. If you don’t know what that is, if you go to your Youtube homepage, at the top of your video feed, there’s a bar that says, “Subscriptions.” Next to that is ‘uploads only’ and a “view” option. Click the view option and change it from “Highlights” to “Everything.”
Youtube is stupid and tried to copy Facebook’s method for de-cluttering feeds by having their “highlights” system filter out older videos. Unlike Facebook, where you don’t care about your friend’s boring updates, you actually care about people you’ve subscribed to’s videos. It defaults back to highlights every time as well, because it’s awful. Hopefully they fix this soon.
2. Allow me to remove videos I’ve watched from the feed. Instead of having their awful “highlights” system filter out old videos, let the person do it themselves. Have it so once you watch a video, and go back to the feed, the video has a light grey border around it with a slightly transparent thumbnail and text. Then, let us be able to “X” (remove) that video from the feed. SO DIFFICULT!
3. Allow more customization for recommended videos to the side of the feed. Make it so gaming related videos only appear if you like gaming, or music if you like music, etc. I don’t want to see videos of fat guys dancing because my friend linked me a video of a fat guy dancing.
That’s all I can think of at the moment, but I’m sure I could find something else if you gave me time.
